The dance was filmed in silence, trusting the inner river and turning towards it.

River in Me (11:28)

River in me is like a journey. The inner world of the performer becomes present, as does the imagined essence of the place. Both the known and the unknown are present. River in Me asks what is the energy of life, how to trust life and live fulfillingly. What happens at the boundary between the inner and outer worlds? Between the dancer and the filmmaker and within them during this dance where nature becomes the stage?

The dance and filming was in winter 2018. The River in Me was part of Maria Laitila's artistic thesis in the basic studies of dance pedagogy (Uniarts Helsinki / Open Campus). It was later edited into this video.
